James Wallman | Why Experientialism Is The New Materialism
“The way we express our identities and get status, and shake our tail feathers is not so much through what we have, it’s through what we do.”
James has written for, and his opinions have appeared in, many of the world’s leading publications, from the New York Times to the Sunday Times, the Financial Times, and Wired. He has appeared on some of the world’s leading current affairs TV programmes, including ABC's The Drum, MSNBC's The Cycle and the BBC's Newsnight.
His book Stuffocation was published in 2015 by Penguin. This seminal work is about what James believes to be the defining problem, and most important cultural trend, of the 21st century: we have too much stuff, and our culture's materialism has to change – and it is changing.
