Anyone can start a company. That’s why being an entrepreneur is such an empowering and extraordinary thing. But not everyone is prepared for the reality of becoming a CEO. This workshop will take you through the process of individual change required to become one.

Who is it for?
The workshop is designed for co-founders needing to make the transition to CEO. So you will either be considering starting a business and want to know what will be required of you, or you’ll already have launched your company and want help evolving into the CEO role. But many of the lessons in it are applicable whoever you are and whatever job you do. We'll talk about how any detail-hungry "expert" becomes a leader.  As long as you want to change the preconception you have of what you are capable of this workshop will be useful.

Course content:
The skillset of a founder
The skillset of a CEO
The journey between the two

What Will You Learn?

Culture comes from the top.
The way you behave informs the way your staff will behave. So you have to be prepared to tackle your own shortcomings before you can help those around you deal with theirs.

How to confront your 'inner 18th-century mill owner’.
Every founder soon discovers they have a little voice in their head that equates suffering from virtue and is determined to squeeze the value out of all their employees. This voice is loudest when things seem most stressful and fraught, but all the science shows this approach never gets the best out of the people. We'll look at smarter ways to get your team super-motivated.

Be 'on' the business, not in the business.
When you run a company it’s easy to get caught up in the day to day running of things but your true value comes in having an overall perspective. You’ll need this perspective to improve every part of the business. This requires maintaining a tricky balance between being in touch with what is going on, but always maintaining enough distance to see what needs to be done.
